Regulars Rally Past Invincibles In Dramatic Comeback

In the second game the Holbrook Regulars erased a 7 4 deficit by seventh inning. Osbourne labored, then Regulars solved his pitches. Ballard sparked the rally, three Regulars were hit, two walked, and wild pitches added runs. Gardner and Smith kept hits scattered as a double play ended a threat.

Miss Amis Delights Holbrook Recital With Skillful Readings

Miss Joyce Amis gave a June second recital in Holbrook before a receptive audience. Her readings from Anne of Green Gables and Mother displayed consummate skill and a flexible, sympathetic voice. Listeners praised the performance and hoped for a future repeat.

Double Wedding Licenses in Woodruff Reported

The Clerk of the Superior Court issued marriage licenses last week for Levi Brinkerhoff of Woodruff to Rhoda Turley of Woodruff and Adelbert Hatch of Woodruff to Josephine Turley of Woodruff. The double wedding occurred last Tuesday at Woodruff with Bishop L M Savage performing the ceremony.

Stray horses sighted near Chevalon and Clear Creek

On June 15 a pair of horses weighing 1000 to 1100 pounds were seen and shod. One gray horse bore a C T brand on the right side and a left hip mark reading reverse C razy A T, connected to Joan O. They were last seen between Chevalon and Clear Creek. Report sightings to R. S. Teeple in Holbrook Arizona.

Social Events Highlight Hotel Whist and Dinners

Miss Evelyn Purcell of Hotel Holbrook hosted a whist evening with guests Misses Margaret Haley Maida Dailey Helen Purcell and Messrs Gilmer Lowe Brandy and Schmitt Mrs W H Clark hosted the Friday Club with many attendees enjoying confections and punch before lunch. Mr and Mrs Chas FE Perkins hosted a Sunday dinner for W H Clark Henry Scorse and others. Rex King and Hazel E Heaton wed in Mesa Arizona on May 27. King works with the Forest Service. bride is noted as talented.

Superior Court sets cases for July trial in 1914 session

Last Monday morning the Superior court focused on criminal and civil calendars. The state case Arizona vs J W Marley et al was re entered to the court on a Supreme Court mandate and retrial is set for July 13 1914 with Judge W L Barnum assisting. Eighteen indictments for grand larceny noted. Greer assault case dismissed after witness death. Three jailed defendants include Sanien charged with rape Gonzales burglary and Be Lin-E-Begay for infant murder. Other criminal cases set for next jury session. civil matters slated for trial.

Snowflake attends Daggs reservoir dedication and rainfall reports

Residents from Snowflake and Taylor joined the Daggs reservoir dedication last Monday. Nellie Flake stays at Woodruff. C R Brewer of Pinedale notes rains in the area. Jas J Shumway of Taylor visited Snowflake, Y Bazan from Silver Creek passed through, Uncle Bob Mineraly from Day Wash reports good rains. Overall, people describe fine weather, good crops, and lush grass in Snowflake.

Initiative Petitions Across State for Fall Vote

Nine initiative petitions with about 500 signatures each were filed with Secretary of State S. P. Osborn. Subjects include electric poles, ending the contract system, a state printing plant and bank, old age and mothers pensions, anti blacklist measures, taxation reform, abolishing the State Senate, debt-raising for deficits, and a veto power clause on initiative and referendum measures.

Pastime Shows Draw Crowd with Cowboys and Films

Good Shows The Pastime presented two shows Saturday and Sunday evenings and a Wednesday night performance featuring Robinson and Watson the cowboy and cowgirl in trick roving and three reels of movies. A post show dance was enjoyed by the crowd.

A Good Route Assured From Durango to Gallup

A high quality auto highway from Durango to Gallup via Aztec and Farmington is assured. The State Highway Commission will send a grader and engineer to designate it as a state road. Five thousand dollars in donated work plus county and state funds support the project. The Indian Service has finished the Hogback to Shiprock segment and plans the San Juan bridge, with the final bridge bid advertised. The route will connect the Spanish Trail Grand Canyon highway from Denver to California.
