Budget Hearing Slated Tonight in Jose City School District

Voters Approve Holbrook APS Franchise for 25 Years
Holbrook voters approved a 25 year electric franchise for Arizona Public Service Company to serve the city. The special election results were 177 in favor and 9 against. College Board Okays Budget for NPC 1976-77
Northland Pioneer College approved its 1976-77 budget after a public hearing at Holbrook city hall attended by about 40 people. NPC president Edwin R. Sorensen said the budget was unanimously approved and noted support from taxpaying associations. Four Holbrook Residents Die In Two Accidents
Four Holbrook residents died last week in two incidents. A one car crash on I-40 near Flagstaff killed Irene Parish and infant Clark Cropper with Donna Marshall and Rebecca Cropper injured. Two Holbrook boys, Roy Fischer and Michael McNatt, drowned at Cholla Lake after playing on a raft in the canal. both bodies recovered later. Services for the boys were held June 2 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Three Jail Escapees At Large In Navajo County Breakout
Four inmates used a hacksaw to escape from Navajo County jail on a Saturday. One has been recaptured, three remain at large. Escapees tied to a Monday kidnapping of Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree near Holbrook, with $800 taken. Suspects identified include Mark Shaber Overgaard and others from Holbrook Cibecue Taylor. Search operations continue for the remaining trio.

General Crook Trail Reopening Set Saturday
The General Crook Trail from Ft. Whipple in Prescott to Show Low reopens Saturday June 5 as a state Bicentennial event. The Show Low Chamber of Commerce sponsors an horseback and pedestrian parade from city park to rodeo grounds led by the Fourth Cavalry Unit from Ft. Huachuca, culminating in a barbecue. The 100 year old military road began in 1871 under Gen George Crook to link Fort Apache Fort Verde and Fort Whipple.
