The Holbrook Branch American Red Cross held its annual meeting noting strong year end finance and active committees. Reports show War Drive income 1420 dollars, Minstrel Show 455.50, Patriotic Card Clubs 26.58, Donations 116.70 totaling 2119.03 with patriotic clubs giving 318.58 annual. Shipments include 155 sweaters, 169 socks, 27 helmets, 5 boxes clothes, and 11,200 surgical dressings. Membership tops 346 for general, 253 Junior Red Cross with 122.90 raised from entertainments and 27.50 on hand. Officers elected: Chairman L Caldwell, Vice-Chairman G M Braxton, Treasurer Mrs Flanigan. executive board members Dr Smith, Judge Sap, Mrs Chamberlain, Mr Jordan, Miss Whetstone, Mr Blum.

Jolly Brings in Big Well at Holbrook
Jack Jolly the well digger completed a major Holbrook water well for Julius Wetzler. Work began Friday with an 8 by 8 foot dig to 15 feet, then a 3 inch point and pipe extended to 50 feet total, yielding a large flow. A 10,000 gallon tank and gasoline engine will pump water into the Commercial hotel.

Sharp Returns From Texas Hall Visit
H D Sharp, traveling salesman for Babbitt Bros Trading Co, returned last Sunday from Brownwood Texas where his sister died and his mother was seriously ill. Mrs Sharp will stay in Brownwood for now then join him later in Holbrook. He notes Brownwood has grown to about sixteen to seventeen thousand people due to nearby oil field development near Ranger fields.
