First Annual Registered Tournament a Splendid Success
The Holbrook Gun Club hosted its first annual tournament on November 11 with high quality shooting despite lower attendance. Notable visitors included Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Huntley of Kansas City and Captain A. H. Hardy of Denver. Huntley extended praise after a long run, while Hardy performed a dramatic shooting exhibition. The event also saw the laying of the Northern Arizona Trapshooting League foundation and elections of officers J. S. Hulet, P. A. Melick, and C. P. Cooley. Local shooters excelled, with five winning over $20 and many hitting 90 percent. Weather brought soaking rains, and sales ads followed after.

Thirty five thousand lambs were shipped from Holton in October along with 11 748 cattle reaching a month total of 46 743 head. J W Bennett of Houck sold 220 two year old steers to C Eshnique of Sierra California, shipped from Navajo on the 11th, inspected by Lew H Mickey with Divelbess. L W Jaques of Lakeside shipped 7 000 lambs from Holbrook, J J Spears loading hundreds of head for western markets. Morse Bros Will Richards Hancock and Tom Ortega also shipping. Winter clothing from Erickson the tailor of Winslow comes to Holbrook November 18th.
