Superior Judge handles pitch fork as Sheriff, clerk, recorder join with leading business men to clear brush, level ground, and adjust monuments. Last Tuesday Holbrook citizens spent the day cleaning the cemetery, turning it into a neater resting place and reflecting community pride.
Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Dailey hosted a birthday anniversary supper for their daughter Maida at the Cottage. The table featured three cakes including a center birthday cake, and a humorous frosting of a tin pan. Guests included A. T. Meyers Edna Greer Brinkerhoff Walter McLaws Frank Delaney S. Booth Laura Sebring Will Evans Hough Carpenter and others. Maida received gifts such as a dress with blue draperies.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints announces Sunday School at the old school house at 10 30 a m Y M and Y L M L A meet in Judge Larson s office every Sunday at 7 p m Everyone invited to attend these gatherings hosted by the local church community.
Episcopal services at 8 P M on the second and fourth Wednesdays conducted by Rev. Jacob M. White of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Winslow as rector.
The fifth month shows 125 total enrollment with 97 percent average attendance. Grammar room lists 13 perfect attenders including Donald Rencher with 11 in that group. Notable absences include Lou Cross and Myrtle Gardner with mumps, while Connie and Lois Biggs returned to school. Spelling contest favors the 7th grade as the 8th missed 25 words.
The Euchre Club held its first meeting Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Garrison. Ladies winner was Mrs. Julia Braam and gentlemen winner was Dr. Bazell. Guests included Mr. Alfred Garrison and Mrs. Meta Garrison.
Lew H. Mickey testified last Friday in the case of the burnt horses found bearing an unidentified brand. The animals were returned to the Indian owners. Mickey came back earlier this week and reported results. In sports, Woodruff and St. Joseph junior teams met in Woodruff with St. Joseph winning 46 to 22. The seniors played that day with Woodruff taking a 21 to 6 win.

Miss Josie McLaws of St Joseph visits her sister Mrs Roy Cummins in town. Jim Shumway of Taylor, former Navajo County supervisor, was in town. The Merchants and Stock Growers bank front gains paint. bridge work delayed by lumber routes from Showlow. steel spans in place and completion expected by tomorrow noon. E N Oden of El Paso Bridge and Iron to build a Globe bridge next. Local social notes include L S Heward visiting daughter Rilla in St Johns and a newborn boy to Mrs Dave Morgan. Bert Colter returns from Denver stock growers convention en route home. Prof McOmie to Snowflake for lectures. Dim Flake, Snowflake cattleman, visits Holbrook. Harry Bryan from Durango arrives, plans cattle venture with John Hall near Pine Dale.
At a Winslow town council meeting last Wednesday an ordinance to require brick fireplaces in residences where stoves are used was proposed, with the mayor LaPrade promoting safer flue practices. The session also touched on road funding, a river bridge possibility, and George Hubbard planning a two story store building west of the Mail office.
The Price She Paid drama praised as one of the greatest and most absorbing. Sylvia Summers leads the cast in a staging hailed for its bold, dramatic portrayal of a young woman’s fight for virtue and its scenic excellence. Augustus Thomas lauds the work as a theatrical gem.
E. E. Ball civil engineer for the Albuquerque-Needles division of the Santa Fe railroad was in town Tuesday on official business. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Scorse welcome a baby boy born last Monday at 1 o'clock weighing nine and one half pounds. The mother and infant are healthy under Miss Richards care. Flake Bros and Fred Colter plan a large shipment of farming machinery unloaded today, signaling farm prosperity in Snowflake and region.
On Wednesday evening a pleasant card party was hosted at the Central hotel by Miss Saxton and Miss Martha Saxton. Refreshments of fruit cake sandwiches and a beverage were served. Guests included Miss Edna Greer and Messrs. B. B. Neel Frank Delaney and A. T. Meyers.
Mrs John Flanigan hosted a Relief Society gathering last Thursday afternoon assisted by Mrs Ellen Smith. Ladies enjoyed music games and refreshments of salads sandwiches nuts and chocolate. The group holds social affairs on every fifth Thursday with members hosting in turn.
Snowflake monument dealer M Michelson was a business visitor yesterday. Reverend Geo Marx of Winslow conducted a monthly service at Mrs Garcia's home last Monday and officiated at early mass Tuesday. Judge and Mrs Sidney Sapp entertained County Sunday school delegates Tuesday evening, hosting Rev W C Merritt of Los Angeles Rev C S Carter Mrs Christie Rev Ross of Winslow and Miss Maud Dawson.
