Dr J W Bazell reports his brother G C Bazell has earned a first lieutenant commission in the U S Army and will report for active service December 15 after three months training at Fort Leon Springs Texas. He is visiting Ironton Ohio. Arthur LaPrade of Winslow also earned a second lieutenant commission. Friends predict a bright future in the army.

Dedication of St Marys Hospital in Gallup
The Dedicate Hospital St Marys was dedicated Sunday with Catholic ceremony led by Archbishop Pitayal of Santa Fe. The hospital opens for indigent care and nursing Sisters of St Mary care for patients in wards as a large diverse crowd attended.

Burglary At St. Joseph Mercantile Store Investigated
The St. Joseph Mercantile store owned by Richards Bros. was burglarized on Wednesday night 12 miles west of Holbrook. Entry used skeleton keys and the safe blown with nitroglycerine. About $50 in cash, jewelry, Indian bracelets and cutlery taken. Loss about $200. Sheriff Newman suspects professional burglars. no arrests yet.
