Hobbs High School Eagles host Brownfield Texas Cubs tonight at 8 pm in their season opener. After a 13 to 6 loss to Levelland last week the Eagles seek their first win as they face a stronger Brownfield squad noted for a two touchdown lead earlier this season. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. cars may park inside the fence at the east entrance.

Two Local Hunters Bag Huge Black Bears Near Magdalena
Art Chesher and Bill Clark returned Thursday from Magdalena country with two enormous black bears weighing nearly 600 pounds each. Chesher's bear was believed to have caused heavy cattle losses in the area this year. The hunters report abundant big game in Magdalena this year.
