A. M. Spencer of Capital Construction Company Santa Fe announced a project start on about December 15 on the twelve mile stretch road west of here. The office has been established locally to oversee the work.

Mr and Mrs J N Fletcher visiting relatives in Lamesa. Clyde Woolworth of Jal visited Hobbs. Mont Beckam of Jal was here Thursday. many residents reported East Texas trips. The Hobbs Music Club approved officers for next year including Melvin Meals as First Vice President and Membership Chairman and Mrs. W F Edwards as Second Vice President. The group met at Mrs. R M Hinson's home with Mrs. Albert Lloyd presenting an opera in Italy and Verdi life talk. New members include Mrs. Frank Gray Mrs W C Hilliard and Mrs Arthur Vaughn.
Mrs and Mrs Billy Walker announce the birth of their daughter on Monday. Seth Alston of Lovington visited Hobba for business on Wednesday. Mrs Guy Hooper made a business trip to Lubbock on Sunday. Mr and Mrs T W Eagleston and Mrs Eddie Ghants attended a meeting at Arlington Downs this week. Mr and Mrs Kenneth Ausmus were called to Lubbock on Sunday due to the serious fitness of Mr Ausmus mother.
Mr and Mrs J T Wilbur are parents of an eight pound baby born recently. Mr and Mrs T E Howard spent Saturday in Lubbock transiting.
Hobbs High School travels to Roswell after a bruising loss to Carlsbad as the Eagies chase a possible state title bid against the Coyotes. Kickoff is 5:30 under lights at Charles de Bremond Memorial Field with 35 cent admission. Hobbs Band and locals accompany the team.
Hobbs Consolidated School District directors announced plans to purchase a site for a proposed new high school. Owners of selected lots will be asked to name a price.
