Grady Snow, a Hobbs resident for two and a half years and Shell Pipe Line Co. employee, died at Brown field Texas early yesterday. Funeral services were held at Brown field yesterday afternoon with many Shell workers in attendance. He is survived by his wife and a son James Troy 7.
Notice informs taxpayers of the 1935 special tax law with privileges expiring June 15 1935. If 1934 taxes are paid in full by that date no interest or penalty accrues. Delinquent 1983 and prior taxes may be paid by December 1 1935 without interest or penalty. Office of the under something will grant further privileges.
Hobbs Oilers edged Wink Cats 5 4 on Sunday at Phillips practice diamond. Three Wink runs in the third inning gave a short-lived lead before Hobbs tallied ten hits and played error-free defense. Greenfield hurled superbly for Hobbs holding Wink to four hits as the Oilers secured the win. The Wink team heads to Roswell next Sunday to face Ralph Koenig of the Texas Company who has pneumonia at General Hospital.

Oklahoma hotel operators traveling to the National convention of Hotel Greeters of America in Los Angeles dined with Harden manager A. C. Young in Hobbs. A banquet at the Harden featured Mr. Young as host. guests included hotel proprietors from Hobbs, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Frederick plus editors and hotel officials. The group left after a breakfast to tour Carlsbad Caverns before continuing to Los Angeles.

Capitan Byers No 1 on South Turner St and Stanolind Byers No 26 near town reported activity while Sun Oil set a new location north of the Shell well at Monument. Multiple drill stem tests near 3 8 00 feet showed varying oil and sulfur water readings with lime producing in the region. Operators believe crystalline lime constitutes the Hobbs producing zone in the Rowena Penrose test.
A new ordinance would expand the fire zone from Linam Street to Fowler and from Taylor to Dunnam Street, covering eight blocks on Carlsbad Street. Future buildings must use fireproof materials. existing structures stay unchanged. Sponsors say the move would cut fire insurance costs, with a committee led by A Caylor and others refining the plan over several weeks.
