Faye Stevens of Stevens to take part of the week off for a brief trip to visit Jackie Coleman. Coleman is the small son of Mr and Mrs Bill Coleman and is ill with pneumonia.
Mr and Mrs J T Hill spent Monday in El Paso. Boxx are the parents of a daughter born Monday morning at The te io tend Cheri Lisa.
Miss Lorene Gilbert of Burk Burnett Texas is visiting in the home of her brother Bill Gilbert this week.
Another step toward clearing up Hobbs political wrangle will be taken Wednesday when the Quo Warranto case of the State of New Mexico against Mayor L. W. Gay and Commissioners Ansley and Rhoads will be heard in District Court at Roswell. The suit aims to determine if the mayor and commissioners are legally entitled to hold their offices.
In State v Foley a jury found the defendant guilty of conducting a gambling game and sentenced him to three months in jail. Four men charged with gaming were fined. Jones and Cavender iva Payton suit verdict favors defendant. Sharp v Patten verdict favors defendant. Martin Hughes fined $50 for contempt of court. Hughes, a State witness in the Sam Turner case, arrived late at court. Turner was acquitted of a forgery charge earlier this week.
Atlantic Petroleum Purchasing Corporation releases a revised gravity schedule for Seaco county aligning with Humble Oil. The schedule spans 715 to 76 cents below 29 gravity with 2 cent adjustments per gravity unit for higher ranges, take effect January 28.
Effective February 1 the allowable oil production in New Mexico rises to 64 000 barrels per day, an increase of 2 000 from the previous 62 000. The change ends a six decade old allocation regime and takes effect this week.

A small shack sustained fire damage reported in Hobbes area. No injuries noted and investigators will determine the cause. Local fire crews responded promptly to extinguish flames and secure the scene.
