Seek to Build New Schools Here Occupation Tax Ordinance is Adopted

Town of Hobbs adopts a broad occupation and license tax ordinance to raise revenue amid a 20 mill cap. Death of Harrison Child 10 in Camp area

Mildred Joyce Harrison, aged 10, died at General Hospital Wednesday evening after a rapid illness from double pneumonia. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Harrison of Camp K. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 p.m. at North Cemetery, with Rev. Homer Gilbert of the Nazarene church officiating.

Mayor Gay Rhoads and Ansley Elected City Commissioners

Mayor L W Gay was re elected and J B Rhoads and Joe Ansley won the city commission posts in a special election called after the district court refused to certify the May 21 vote. A total of 122 ballots were cast with precinct results showing tight races among the three candidates.

Wreck Injures Amerada Oil Worker Near Eunice

Don Beasley, an Amerada Oil Co. employee, suffered severe hand injuries when his vehicle crashed Saturday night near Eunice. His right hand was mangled beneath the truck and he received treatment at General Hospital. Also visiting were Mrs. Edna Peterson, state beauty genre inspector. Mrs. N. C. Bland, mother of Mrs. J. L. Burke Sr., visiting the Burke family from Macon Georgia. Miss Gladys Stacey, guest of Miss Alma Chermy, has returned home to Oklahoma City.
