Voters in adjoining districts 16 and 16a will decide whether to consolidate on Consolidation Tuesday. A new board would be formed with fair representation, and a centrally located new high school could be built while existing buildings retained as ward schools.
President will go on air Sunday night in a fireside talk about the new works relief program. He will speak at 10 p m Eastern Standard Time for thirty minutes. It will be his first national radio appearance since last November.
Senator Hatch announced the PWA authorized the Federal Reserve Bank at El Paso to disburse 35000 of proceeds from Hagerman New Mexico general obligation bonds for waterworks construction. The 35000 is part of a 49000 loan to the town by the Public Works Administration and will be made immediately available.
Washington April 26 The Harrison bonus compromise to pay cash instead of bonds was approved by the Senate Finance Committee after two cash payment proposals were rejected. The committee voted it out after an hour and a half executive session with administration support claimed.
Edgar Ramey of Dimmitt Texas spent Wednesday and Thursday in Hobbs on business. He is connected with the Hardin Truck Co.
The Community Chorus presented Hail the Victor in the high school auditorium on Sunday evening. Under director Christine Carter Love the cantata drew about 400 to 500 in attendance, delivering a complete flawless performance praised as one of Hobbs' best ever.
Late yesterday officials announced the registration book Word No. 4 at the Ragin Hotel was stolen around 1 30 p m. Voters who registered in that ward before the theft must re register to be eligible for the city election next month. Books will stay open until May 1.

Martin Hughes and J F Davis, operators of the Palace Bar, lease the Green Lantern Cafe from owner George Collins. The move announces a new management structure for the popular New Hobbs night spot this week.
Mrs. M. A. Wilder, Mrs. Doris Isherwood and Mrs. H. Golden of Grand Junction, Colorado, are visiting in the Phil Golden home this week.
About forty Boy Scouts from Hobbs and New Hobbs left yesterday for Camp-O-Ral between Clovis and Portales. Scoutmaster Autrey led the group, traveling in an Edwards-Robinett truck. They expect to return late tomorrow.
April 25 in avhineton Federal relief officials inform Senator Hatch of New Mexico that they are coordinating with the State Administrator to address heavy loco weed consumption by livestock. Hatch says he has discussed action with the Agriculture Department and the Forest Service and wants a relief work program to eradicate the weed and prevent damage to the livestock industry.
In Borger Texas on April 25 W H Bates chief of police ordered all dance halls operated with bars or serving liquor closed. Officials say investigations found young boys and girls attended the dances.
Two cases scheduled for hearing before Judge J. L. Emerson were moved to next week in justice court. Henry Celey and Doc Bowman remain jailed on forgery charges with bonds of 1000 and 1500 dollars. A preliminary hearing for D. W. Porter on aggravated assault with deadly weapon is reset for next week. Porter is jailed for 1000 dollars.
J. T. Collie, previously gravely ill for weeks at Lub bock Sanitarium, has been discharged and returned to his home in the city.
George Gamble, a local contractor, has finished installing the steel ceiling on the Bill Clark Service Station in New Hobbs and is now applying a steel ceiling to the nearby Wacker building.
John Scharbauer of Fort Worth visits O. C. Good and centers on city affairs during a local visit to discuss property and civic matters.
Miss Mayme Dell Driscoll visiting the city returned to her home in Big Spring Sunday, marking the end of her visit.
J L Schoolfield operates the Hobbs Collection Agency with offices in the Rex theater building, offering debt collection services.
Plainview Texas April 25 The 17th general convention of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce is three weeks distant but plans move ahead briskly in Plainview WTCC host city and convention manager Jed Rix are pushing for a smooth show on short notice.
Fourth grade pupils perform Molly Be Jolly tonight at 7 30 in New Hobbs School. Admission is 10 and 25 cents.

San Angelo man known as Babe Powell allegedly ran a string of thefts across Texas towns. He reportedly borrowed autos, collided with a dealer’s car, fled the scene, and was captured by Seminole officials after a pursuit near the Gaines county line. Powell faces multiple charges in Seminole.
HobbsPhillips baseball meets U S Rot ash Mines of Carlsbad Sunday at 8 p m on the old practice diamond west of town. West and Burleson will be infielders, Ellis Pair may start on the mound. Admission 26 cents for adults. children admitted free. Schedule lists four games including Roswell May 5 and Carlsbad dates May 12 and May 19 with open dates May 26 and June 2.
Interior Secretary Ickes increased Mexico's May oil production allowance to 61 500 barrels daily, a rise of 200 barrels from March. He based the state’s allotment on its normal production and national demand, noting New Mexico's historical conservation and orderly output.
