Fatal freight ride ends life of law student at Greenwich crossing
Joel D. Hart 22 a junior law student was instantly killed when he leaped onto a freight car at the Greenwich street crossing of the Pennsylvania railroad. His companion G Short ridge escaped with minor injuries as Hart’s fall under the oncoming train left his body mutilated. the two had left their rooming house to ride the freight. Hart’s remains were taken to Blanchard Sr., the family home.

Two Foreigners Killed by Train Near Gary Crossing
Steve Varga and Matt Varouvich were struck and killed Thursday night by a westbound Pennsylvania passenger train near the Broadway crossing in Gary. They stepped from the south to the north track as the east bound freight neared. the passenger train arrived from the east at 7 37 and struck both men almost simultaneously. The train stopped as soon as possible, but both men died after being found.

Simon Nestoroff eighty is killed at his bakery at 1416 Jefferson Gary. Police seek partners Dan Bonada and John Dimitro, missing since the Thursday morning murder believed a robbery motive. Officer Jenkins found Nestoroff's body in a bloodied shop with an eight pound axe at the door.
