Walters Is Acquitted In Keuts Murder Trial

Jacob Walter proprietor of the Hunters' home in Keuts faced a murder charge for the Dec 16 killing of Alvin Johnson of Wren Ohio. The jury acquitted him after he testified Johnson was too friendly with his wife. The trial in Valpo lasted about a week.

Widow Dies at County Farm After Illness

Mrs. E. P. Fisher died of typhoid fever at the county poor farm after being found ill near Miller and brought there Wednesday evening. Her husband is in Panama and unaware of the death and the fate of their two small children left to friends.

Death of Hobart area patriarch Timothy McAuliff Sr

Timothy McAuliff Sr aged 79 died suddenly Thursday morning. A lifelong resident of the Hobart area since 1871 he was born in Ireland and left a widow with two sons and a daughter. Funeral services were held at the family home Saturday at 10 with interment at Turkey Creek Cemetery.

Theaker to study mechanics at American Automobile College

Dr. Gordon has employed Omer Theaker for three years and will send him to the American Automobile College in Chicago. He plans to study auto mechanics, commuting daily from Battle Creek and back, after bringing Theaker home and promising to educate him in his chosen path.

Indiana House Debates Health Certificate Marriage Law

The Indiana House debated whether marriage should rely on romance or science. Rep Redgood's bill required male marriage license applicants to present a health certificate from a physician.
