Rev. Father Hoff rejects rumors that a Catholic priest opposed a Catholic candidate. He vows to prove the lies false, offers 100 to the truth, and urges citizens to vote, stressing Catholics must participate in elections and may choose any party. He argues good governance requires honest, capable leaders and civic duty beyond creed.
The second entertainment under the high school lecture course featured Miss Myers as vocalist and reader with encore after encore. Mr. Lewis’s fine baritone and amusing readings, with Mrs. Lewis on piano, made the program a standout. The event drew about 500 attendees in the new schoolhouse venue. The next April 21 program will present Sarah Mildred Willmer delivering literary masterpieces.

George McKinley of Richmond, a Pennsylvania railroad car repairer, lost a leg below the knee after a passenger train struck him. He begged doctors to cremate the limb immediately, fearing how it would be disposed of.
George W. Miles, state fish and game commissioner, urges lowering the daily limit for bass. Current law allows thirty six fish for two fishermen. Miles favors reducing it to eighteen or twenty to curb overfishing.
Rev Servies secures Rev S B Shaw and wife of Grand Rapids Mich for revival services at the M E church starting Sunday January 1. The evangelists are praised for avoiding doctrinal controversy and urging broad church participation for the community’s spiritual uplift. Also reported is the death of Mary Baker Eddy founder of Christian Science at Beacon Street Chestnut Hill Mass after a nine day illness.
Regular storm periods forecast from the 6th to 8th and 10th to 15th bring rain snow and potential sleet and blizzards. seismic activity volcanic eruptions and tidal waves cited around the 16th. dangerous north Atlantic navigation on the 16th to 18th. later from 21st to 27th mid winter storms with vigilance urged to save life and property. Wright Powell of Evansville, seated in his automobile, lit a match in gasoline soaked gloves and escaped by jumping into a rain barrel.
Herbert Riddle a 26 year old worker at Chester farm was fatally harmed when his arm was drawn into a corn shredder while feeding the machine. Doctors amputated near the shoulder but he remained unconscious and died at five o'clock after a two day struggle. Riddle, a Hobart native and widower, had lived with the Chester family in Jerome area and was known locally. His parents in New Jersey have been notified of the probable fatality.
Mary Mabelle Mander daughter of John E. and Mary Ellen Mander born May 31 1885 Hobart Indiana died December 1 1910 at home north of Valparaiso Indiana aged 25 years six months after a nearly twelve year illness. She married Willard W. Herron March 4 1906 Laporte Indiana and had one son aged four. Survived by husband son mother sisters Menta Etta Lucile brothers Charles John Leonard Earle and many relatives. Funeral at M E church with Rev V B Servies. Songs Lead Kindly Light Rock of Ages Nearer My God To Thee. Buried Hobart Cemetery beside father and brother.
