AT LOGGERHEADS OVER JAIL SITE

A heated Board of Trade meeting at Firemen's Hall condemns the choice of a jail site after Governor Carter and Superintendent Holloway decide to fund the present Hilo jail location. The Kaumana quarry site is urged for economical stone supply, while doubts about permanence and cost persist amid land-lease negotiations and plans for a two story jail with sixty cells.

Maul Masons organize new Maui lodge at Wailuku

A Masons lodge was installed in K P Hall Wailuku with eleven charter members and an active applicant pool of thirty to forty. Hon Henry B. Cooper Acting District Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Scotland presided with Pacific Lodge Honolulu officers occupying installing positions. Paraphernalia expected from the East and Maui Lodge shows strong start.
