No Bank Deal Fails in Honolulu Merger Talk

Honolulu May 10. The down town district buzzed with rumors of a Bank of Hawaii and First National Bank merger. M Cooke of Bank of Hawaii called the talks off noting the deal was never submitted to directors and the $25 a share price hike killed the option. W W Cooper of First National denied any option on control and offered no further comment.
