Fire at Onomea Sugar Mill Destructive in Papaikou
The Onomea Sugar Company mill burned Saturday night February 3 at Papaikou in the island’s worst fire. Most machinery survived or could be replaced. boilers and brickwork escaped major damage. The mill hopes to resume within two months to salvage the crop, with 15 000 bags of sugar destroyed and 250 tons in process lost.

Forty four sacks of mail arrived at Kukuihaele at 2 30 p m Sunday and reached the Hilo post office by stage at 4 p m Monday The shipment included island mail as well as Aten mails from the Siberia and the Sierra America Maru mail is expected to arrive with the next Kinau.

Hawaii's Measure Endorsed by Commerce Groups
Secretary E H Paris of the Honolulu Merchants Association received a letter from George W Smith president of the Honolulu Chamber of Commerce and a Washington delegate urging passage of a bill to grant Hawaii seventy five cents of federal revenue for local fortifications and improvements. Smith reports the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce trustees have adopted a resolution urging California congressmen to back Hawaii's measure.

More Molokans May Come to Kapaa Lands
Land Commissioner Pratt says about 130 Molokan families plan to settle Kapaa lands with room for more. Hakalaurs will cover costs for Molokan investigators, and steamer arrivals are anticipated. Kapaa tract priced at 29,597 dollars for 5200 acres with cane, rice, and pasture divisions. First consignment expected in about two weeks, totaling around 550 people, possibly up to four hundred more later.
