Banana Brand y Distillation Promises Hawaiian Profit
Dr N Russell argues for using surplus Hawaiian bananas, including small and damaged bunches, to make banana brandy. Citing experiments from Victoria and German West Africa, he notes 100 quarts of banana mush yield 12 quarts of pure alcohol and 24 quarts of 50 strength brandy, with an average 40 pound bunch producing about 16 quarts of strong brandy.

Demand For Human Hair Drives Prices Upward
New York’s largest human hair dealers, supplying much of the national crop, report demand never higher. Prices for all shades and styles are rising, with first-class hair up 30 to 50 percent in three months. Current import volumes suggest further winter price increases, and gray hair remains scarce. A fine gray hair wig is valuable, worth its weight in silver or gold.
