The Hilo Board of Trade executive council discussed forming a hotel company to develop a public hotel on Reed's Island or other sites, with $25,000 capital and shares open to business leaders and supporters. The plan envisions island-wide capital and a cooperative structure, with possible leasing from Spreckels if negotiations succeed.
