Salt water fishing takes strong bite as autumn winds cool waters
Captain Jack Smith and Highlands anglers savor a blitz of striped bass with seven fish around 95 pounds caught near Bahrs Landing on a Monday evening. Report notes boats Black Jack and Hedy radio equipped, while freshwater angling slows due to lack of fall stocking. Crabbing remains strong at Waterway spots with blue claws popular. Bay Head reports mackerel suggesting fall chumming may yield blues and mackerel. Cod, pollock, and large fluke persist as bait and warm water persist, promising continued fishing activity.
