Kickoff Meeting Opens Kenny Fund Appeal in Union County
More than 40 community members and key Union County volunteers attended a kickoff in Springfield to launch the 1956 Kenny Fund Appeal. Union County aims to raise 30000, with Robert F. Olsen urging chairmen to meet quotas as the foundation relies on public contributions. He cautioned against complacency despite polio advances, noting ongoing cases and the need for support. Upsala College Opens New Academic Year With Freshmen
Upsala College East Orange opened its 64th academic year on Monday with nearly 500 new students. Among them 455 freshmen and 40 transfers began studies under Dr Harold S Carlgon dean of students. Three Hillside residents joined the freshman class: Patricia Meltzer Melvin Rausch and Melvin Weinberger. Curt M Rosenberg joined Mutual of New Yorks home office staff after special training toward a managerial role in the expanding sales program.
