Who Isn't Registered Third in a series on Registration
Henry Reed Bowen, chairman of the New Jersey Non-Partisan Register and Vote Council, reports that over half of New Jersey’s 20s age group cannot vote this year due to not registering. About 900,000 potential voters have not registered, with September 25th as the deadline for registration. Citizens 21 or older, residents of New Jersey for a year, and counties for five months, may register at county boards or municipal clerks. Evening hours and registration centers are set up to ease registration. The Princeton Research Service finds older people are likelier to be registered, leaving the youngest group with the highest unregistered rate. Three in ten state residents lack voting rights this year. Among registered workers, skilled craftsmen lead, followed by clerical, professional, and owner-manager groups. More independents and more renters than owners are among the unregistered. September 25 is the last day to register. Do it today.
