Man Struck by Truck While Crossing Chestnut Avenue
Vito Carulli 34 of 601 Chapman Street suffered back and internal injuries after being hit by a truck on Chestnut Ave at Hillside Ave. He was admitted to St Elizabeth Hospital. The truck, operated by Luca Barier via, 34, of 6935 20th Street Newark, for Bon Construction Co., was involved. Carulli said he did not notice the vehicle.

Dubow Remembered as Early Hillside Football Father
The Times recalls Sam Dubow as head coach of Hillside High School’s 1933 first football team. He planned organized and financed the squad’s debut, loaning $3000 for initial equipment while the board provided no funds. The sport played behind Coe Ave School and later Conant St Field was built with WPA labor. Dubow has lived in town fifty years with his wife at 143 Fairbanks St.
