A mid day holdup in front of Hillside National Bank netted Eastern Metals payroll of about 3953. The bandit forced Ralph A. Sena into a white and lavender 1955 sedan and drove off toward Hillside Avenue before fleeing. Police recovered the vehicle near Center and Clark streets about 20 minutes later. Sena, 24, described the suspect as white, 30, 5 11, dark hair, pencil mustache, brown coat and trousers.
David S. Morrison, deputy vp Hillside National Bank, elected president of Hillside Kiwanis Club. Other officers include Henry Goldher and John G. Walsh as vice presidents, Theodore Solinsky servant-at-arms, trustees V William Di Buono Albert Sehoen, William Miller. Charles Shenocen reelected treasurer. Edward Love reappointed secretary. A MOPH program planned at Bristol-Myers November 9. Fred Maynald described polyethylene industry and products from Clifton machinery.
A janitor for the Board of Education at Freashe School was seriously hurt Thursday when he fell about 25 feet from a ladder while securing a rope on a chimney. Charles Wohlsifer, 64, of 560 Westminster Ave Elizabeth, suffered a right hip fracture a compound right wrist fracture and possible back injuries. He was transported by Hill Side Ambulance Squad to Elizabeth Hospital.
John Beattie former Hillside Little League president named chairman of a drive to raise ten thousand dollars for a sinking fund to repair maintain and insure the lSeague stadium. Dance kickoff on November 5 at the Col- is planned as the first fund event.
The Recreation Commission will accept registrations for ballroom dancing classes begun last year as an adult activity. The ten week program is tentatively set to start Tue Wed or Thu evenings next week and is limited to 60 couples on a first come first served basis. Hillside PAL announces a Halloween dance on Sunday October 30 at the new PAL and Youth Center Building. Proceeds fund a costume Halloween party October 31. A rifle team with 25 members trains under Patrolman Emanuel Meyer Jr. and meets Tuesdays at the police pistol range. Weight lifting, boxing, basketball, girls basketball, and Thursday night film showings are scheduled. Building hours are 3 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
The Hillside Teachers Association held a regular meeting at Hillside Avenue School with President Phyllis Brogan introducing new teachers. Chairman Conrad Angebrandt reported and a discussion led to changes. Hospitality committee members were listed. next meeting set for November 14.
