Bond Issue Supporter Named Union County Chair
Joel Blenden of Hillside was named Union County Chairman of the Citizens' Committee for the Bond Issue by Governor Hughes and General Robert W. Johnson. The non-partisan group backs a bond plan to fund highways and educational facilities using surplus Turnpike funds, with Union County school aid projected to rise by 2,500,260 and local road development boosted by 517,500. Blenden, Exeter Construction president, says the move will ease local tax burdens and benefit communities.
