Hillside firefighter visits Riviera Beach during hurricanes

Hillside Fireman Don Petras who pitched for Hillside High School stopped in Riviera Beach Florida to visit friends and met fire chief Frank Sulkowski. Petras helped evacuate Singer Island Palm Shores residents as hurricanes Cleo and Dora hit with winds up to 105 miles per hour. The Riviera Beach Fire Department was commended for sheltering residents during the storms.

Audio-Visual Unit Formed At Calvin Coolidge School

A student Audio-Visual Committee was organized at Calvin Coolidge School under Mrs. Muriel Ehren as adviser. Members include Edward Larsen and Wayne Smith as co chairs with several others such as Joseph Boho Debra Gorlin Ruth Harzula William Cohen and more. The group learns film strip projector loud speaker system and record player operation and assists teachers in class with AV equipment. Service certificates of merit are awarded at year end to those who earn them.
