Tickets go on sale Monday November 17 at the school from 7 to 8 pm. Hillside Comets meet Wequahier High School Newark at Woodfield Stadium on Thanksgiving morning at 11. General admission is 1.50 and students pay 0.75 with no reserved seats for sale.
The Hardert Looker Post American Legion of New Jersey plans a four resolution denunciation of public appeals for clemency for Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. Henry Groh presents the measure at the Union County post meeting in the War Veterans Memorial Building with support from local officials.
In last week's Hillside vote for Township Committee and tax collector Democrat John C. Pozar won re election with a sizable margin and Republican Carmen Ferrigno fell short by a narrow margin. Pozar outpolled Stevenson for President by 282 votes and led the county ticket by nearly 700. Ferrigno trailed his partner by 407 votes, with Eisenhower leading Republicans. The piece notes strong Pozar and Ferrigno individual appeal, party dissatisfaction over a new county chairman, and a Kiwanis driven turnout that helped the Democratic surge.
McClow, vice president of the Hillside Board of Education, announced plans to seek reelection becoming the first candidate in February school board elections. The township accepted a $100 fine from Mundet Cork Corp for a smoke ordinance violation in October 1950. Mundet reports new plant apparatus reduces dust fumes and odor, while litigation may end. Court cases on other violations and police conduct during a Dillon Beck strike also loom.

Women urged for home defense wardens, Boy Scouts place posters. police and fire auxiliaries aim to meet quotas.
Eighth grade students at Harden- Locker school led by Miss Micell conducted an internal poll before the recent election. Their forecast favored General Eisenhower over Governor Stevenson with 62 percent and 380 electoral votes, while actual results showed Eisenhower at 56 percent and 442 electoral votes.
The 24th annual Hill side Local 70 Patrolmen's Benevolent Association ball will be held at the Flagship Showboat Route 29 Union on Tuesday November 18 at 8 30 p m Broadway entertainment two orchestras and continuous dancing. Chairman Frank Weber co chair Eli Plant treasurer George Helock publicity and reservations Sgt Clarence Van Deursen.
The Hillside School Janitors Association requests new maximum salaries across four categories from 3800 to 4500 for head janitors 3400 to 4000 for assistants 2800 to 3200 for matrons 4400 to 4800 for maintenance men and 150 to 250 annual increments. The board weighs heating boiler fixes at high school and bus fare concerns from George Washington to Hillside Avenue.
A new wing of George Washington School was dedicated to William M. Raphael, former board president who died in 1947. His widow, Mildred Raphael, unveiled a plaque in the gym auditorium as other officials and community leaders attended the PTA dedication.
The first individual solicitation of Hillside National Bank employees raised 110 dollars for the Community Chest of Eastern Union County. Mrs. John Major announced the total and that Dorothy Korda solicited contributions. James D. Duffy led the drive as the commercial chairman, with the bank unit part of the effort. Mrs. Major added that Theresa Morris, canvassing Bond Street, is a qualified representative of the Community Chest council.
A united request from the Visiting Nurses Association of Union County led by Mrs. Franklin P. Russell and Eleanor P. Duff urged the Board of Health to provide financial support to prevent service curtailment. Aid from Metropolitan Life Insurance and John Hancock Mutual ends midyear and next year, with partial Community Chest backing. The board sent the matter to the Township Committee with a service-impact briefing.
Mayor Robert C G Kirkpatrick will be featured as Mayor of the Week on a WOR radio salute Friday November 14 at 3 30 p m. Patt Barnes and Barbara interview mayors from communities served by the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York highlighting Hillside growth and development.
The Ninth District Civic Association will hold its regular meeting Thursday November 13 at 8 30 p m in the home of president Albert A Rothbard 1069 Voorhees Street.
