Novice Driver's Son Is Slightly Injured
Six year old Martin Edelman of 328 Leland Place suffered facial abrasions from an auto crash on Holly Wood Avenue between Long and Woodruff. He was a passenger in a car driven by his mother Mrs Jerome Edelman, which collided with a car owned by Charles W Morse of Maplewood. Mrs Edelman reported confusion as Morse approached. Police noted her license had been issued about a week earlier. Dr Eugene Greenwald treated and released the boy. Both cars sustained left front damage.

Marcus Employees End 2 Week Strike
Fifty employees of Marcus Transformer Company at 32 34 Montgomery Street ended a two week strike yesterday morning and returned to work. Alvin Marcus, the company president, said the walkout aimed to win recognition for the International Union of Electrical Radio and Machine Workers CIO. A petition for an NLRB election was filed by the union, per Victor Leonardis, the representative. The workers returned after assurances of no repercussions or prejudice against the strike leaders.

A Hillside Public Library branch opened Monday in the kindergarten room at Calvin Coolidge School. Sponsored by the school PTA, it will serve ANI residents who can use the facilities. Mrs. Ford Meyer announced that Calvin Coolidge library cards will be valid at the main Hillside Avenue branch. Co chairs Mrs. Walter Stump and Mrs. Austin Casper will staff with PTA members, supervised by Mrs. Meyer until volunteers learn operations. Open Monday afternoons through the school year, with September plans to add days.

He previously taught in North Plainfield twelve years, came to Hillside four years ago, chairs the Union County Schoolmen's Club, is vice president of the Hillside Teachers Association, and belongs to the National and New Jersey Education Associations. He is married with three children.
