Hillside Officials Train for 22nd County Police Academy
Hillside deputy chief George Shelbourne and Dr. J R Karel among 42 instructors named for the 22nd annual Union County Police Training Academy opening May 20 at Union College Cranford New Jersey. The Union County Psychiatric Clinic treated 494 children and 21 adults for emotional disorders in March with 1 247 hours for children and 500 hours for adults. Hillside had a waiting list of 3 children and four adults. A physical fitness appraisal clinic was held by the YMCA of Newark and Vicinity Downtown Branch May 1 at 600 Broad St Newark. Barbara A Sasovetz of Hillside is on the Health and Physical Education Committee. Berkeley School East Orange honored 204 outstanding business students at its third annual awards program at The Manor West Orange. Hillside High School area winners Linda Christenson and Jean Hrenko. Patrolman Frank De Santo issued a summons against LSD Automotive at Liberty Ave and Princeton Ave for storing old vehicles in violation of township ordinance.

Toll Related Offenses At Hillside Court Session
Hillside court presided by Judge Louis Devin heard multiple Garden State Parkway toll cases. Adele Conway and Herbert Williams pleaded not guilty but were found guilty and fined 15 dollars each. Charles O Connell was found not guilty. Nathan Weiss, William Raimondi, and Howard Wedekin pleaded guilty and were fined 15 dollars each. Barry Rosenbaum was found guilty of sidewalk riding and fined 5 dollars with payment suspended. John J Yakely Jr pleaded guilty to careless driving and fined 35 dollars. Arnold Geller fined 25 dollars for prohibited parking. Samuel J Bell fined 15 dollars for toll nonpayment.
