Nine Hillside teachers will attend the New Jersey Alpha Delta Kappa state convention May 6 at the Governor Morris Inn Morr istown. Hillside Lions Club plans a testimonial dinner Friday May 26 at Mountainside Inn to honor George F Martin of 1020 Bashford Avenue Union as Governor of Lions International District 16 E. Martin, the first Hillside member to head the district, will be feted with state and district Lions leaders and club representatives from Union Essex Morris and Warren Counties. Post Delegates To Attend Essex County J W V Convention
Commander Jack Schechter of Hillside will head a list of outstanding post delegates to the Essex County Council Jewish War Veterans of the United States convention. The May 10 meeting at Irvington’s Servicemen's Clubhouse will also include Sr. Vice Commander Larry Singer and Jr. Vice Commander Seymour Frankel along with Martin Kaufman Harvey Friedman George Vice Henry Werington Vic Levin Hal Egna and Al Wasserman. The event marks the first official function of Elin Unger Post 273 J W V’s new commander following his May 3 installation and notes the post’s status as the first J W V post organized after World War II. The 76th anniversary of the oldest active veterans organization in the country is noted.
