Diamond Urges Ethics Code For Township Officials

Township Committeeman Robert Diamond urged adoption of a Code of Ethics to regulate all elected and appointed officials and municipal employees. He cited conflicts of interest between public duties and outside business or professional interests, and raised questions on attorney roles, outside employment, real estate purchases, voting on related matters, approving outside vouchers, and accepting gifts. Diamond noted state statutes do not fully cover these points and said the governing body was informed in advance.

Rutgers Honors Local Accountant for Faithful Service

Louis T. German of 1509 Liberty Ave Hillside was honored March 23 by Rutgers Newark Extension Center for Loyal and Faithful Service to the State University. Bills would hike aid to New Jersey schools next year

The New Jersey Education Association reports that bills SB 3 and AB 3 would lift state aid by about 81 million dollars for operating costs and 57 thousand for capital outlays, reducing property taxes if approved by June 10. Current-year aid totals 213 thousand for expenses and 38 thousand for capital.
