She has held PTA leadership roles and community service, including Hillside Ave School PTA president and Hillside High School PTA president, with years of service to the Hillside community. Harry Callas of 429 Lehigh Place Hillside died at 71 from an apparent heart attack at a neighbor’s home. Born in Greece he moved to the area in 1912 and was a longtime Douglas Hotel Newark bartender until 1960. Nellie Kohan Callas his wife survives with son George and daughters Betty Mary Ann. It also notes the birth of a daughter to Max and Inge Dreixler at Saint Elizabeth Hospital and details funeral arrangements at Growney Funeral Home and St Joseph’s Church.

National State Bank Elects Officers and Dividends
The National State Bank of Elizabeth New Jersey at its 154th annual meeting elected Robert J. Pinto trust officer and Harold R. Roland assistant vice president. A 25 percent stock dividend and a cash 20 cent per share dividend were approved with March 15 payout to stockholders of record March 7. Pinto and Roland have long histories with the bank.
