Jefferson High nets third straight Union County title
Jefferson High School defeated the Hillside Comets 69 to 57 at the Elizabeth Armory to win a third straight Union County Tournament. All-State guard Paul Anisko led Jeff with 16 points on 8 of 11 shooting, while Larry Gordon matched him with 16. Ernie Schickedanz paced Hillside with 16, and Phil Amato added 13 before fouling out. The Jeffs pulled away in the second half after a close first period, sealing the win with key baskets from Anisko, Gordon, and Post as Hillside foul trouble and a late rally failed to close the gap.
