Joseph B Tapka of S15 AUYOME AMeniN received completion of a course at the Naval Reserve Officers School in Elizabeth. Navy officials note officers attended a one year program for promotion and retirement credit. Refreshments followed a reception. Classes will reconvene September 11 and all reserve officers are invited to attend. Information is available from the commanding officer or at the Elizabeth center on Wednesdays evenings.

DAV Auxiliary Wins State Awards at Monterey Convention
Charles Wernicke Jr. Chapter 55 DAV returned from the 22nd annual State Convention at the Monterey Hotel in Asbury with four citations and one honorable mention. Citations recognized community service membership hospital and Veterans Administration volunteer work at veterans hospitals. Mrs Madelyn Brice received the honorable mention for most outstanding commander of the year. Mrs Olga Maul was appointed state historian. as state chaplain she led memorial services praised as among the most impressive in recent years. Local representatives included Mrs Maul, Mrs Brice, and Mrs Ella Laycock. A national membership citation awaits at the Buffalo convention in August for meeting its quota for the year ending December 31 1956.
