Ukrainian Catholic Church Plan Sows Community Meeting

A meeting at 8 o'clock in the War Building Liberty avenue and Memorial drive will discuss plans for a Ukrainian Catholic church. Rev Myron Sozanski urges Ukrainian Catholics of Hillside and Union to attend. The house of worship would sit at Liberty avenue and Bloy street, with ties to St John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church of Newark and Redemptorist Fathers.

Scholarships and awards highlight high school class

U S scholarships totaling 45 840 were awarded at the high school along with B n a i B r i t h citizenship honors for Theodore H Light and Abigail Carson. The class values show 45 percent aiming for college, 9 percent entering service. Commissioner Henry Goldhor elected president of the Inn County Safety Council at a Winchester Scott Hotel event, succeeding Frank W O'Brien.

A Hillside drive committee chaired by Mrs Rov Vik Bailey was formed to organize a townwide campaign. Highway Worker Injured On Job In Trenton

Walter Riemann 40 of 325 Ans Street Newark employed in the Highway Commission equipment dept injured when debris and a log were discharged from a crane near North Avenue and the river line. He suffered severe facial lacerations and was taken by Andrew Jepson and another observer to Dr Joseph Township physician for treatment.

Medical Honors Awarded to Dr Edwin L Rothfeld

Dr Edwin L Rothfeld received the Albert Einstein Medical Center Award and the Alumni Prize at Jefferson Medical College for the top medical average. He earned honorable mention for the Henry M Phillips Prize in Surgery and held leadership roles in Alpha Omega Alpha Phi Lambda Kappa Beta Phi. Officials Act To Sponsor A Refugee Form Presented To Governor’s Committee

Brith Lodge Awards At Hillside Lodge Meeting

Two thirds of the Hillside Lodge 1614 awards were announced at the meeting in the Father Reykowl2 Hall. Moe Steinman received the Award of Merit from Rubin Hitz on behalf of Philip M. Klutsnick. The lodge earned a silver certificate for service fund obligations, accepted by a past president. The presentation occurred June 4 at the Concord Hotel in Mon Ulverly NJ. an Elizabeth PAL boxing event followed under Edward Gray with President Lawrence Levitas thanking participants.

Massimino Receives Vermont Bachelor of Science Degree

Hillside Township voters will designate Refugee Relief Day on June 23. The council asked state authorities for transport regulations after a local helicopter tied to Colonial Sand & Stone Co. was spotted. officials also pushed rent control authority and a building code amendment for private pools. Missing Liberty Bell Found By Hillside Man

Joseph A Loew of 260 Cram Street Hillside with 23 years in the town uncovered a six foot high replica of the Liberty Bell hidden under canvas in Terry's Auto Repair on Liberty Avenue. He donated the $10 reward to the Hillside Ambulance Squad instead of keeping it. The find ended a search contest started by the Liberty Avenue Businessmen's Association. The donor acknowledged Charis Wernicke Jr Chapter 66 DAY and Otto Zimmerman, Liberty Avenue Association vice president, who accepted for the squad.
