Ricky Kaiser a nine year old resident of 506 Purce Street was treated and released by Dr Eugene Greenweid after being struck by a car operated by Vincent Giordano forty of 84 Underwood Street Newark Patrolman Richard Madden said the boy was riding his bicycle west on the sidewalk in Yale Avenue when he suddenly turned into the street and was hit by the automobile Giordano was also driving west.

A large maroon and gray Hill side High School banner used for the Class of 1942 reunion at the Blue Shutter Inn disappeared after the photograph. Richard Gross of South Orange borrowed it for a class picture and did not return it despite pleas from class president Charles Burgess. Brenton Morse, an oil company engineer in Lagos, Nigeria, won the longest distance prize. Miss Jean Wire of Perris, California, had the second longest distance. Frank J Hill Jr., class adviser, attended as a guest.

Bronze Star Awarded Pfc Ronald Garon for Vietnam Valor
Pfc Ronald Garon 25 son of Mr and Mrs Rudolph Garon of 379 Harvard Street received the Bronze Star for heroism under fire in Tay Ninh Province Vietnam. The citation notes he moved under heavy mortar fire to each howitzer position checking for casualties and assisting a wounded officer and two enlisted men before evacuation. Garon has served in Vietnam since last July and is due to return home next month, with discharge planned in the fall after two years of service.
