Three commissioners of the New Jersey Highway Authority held their semi monthly meeting in Paramus and toured the progress on the Garden State Parkway link to the New York Thruway. The visit began at Paramus Borough Hall.
Commissioners and staff engineers advance a 164 mile Parkway link section from Route 17 northern terminus to the New Jersey New York line in Montville. Groundbreaking for the link occurred May 1 as the Authority oversees construction and operation with leaders Katherine White John Towns end and Sylvester Smith Jr.
A letter from George A Uhrik thanks Hillside ambulance squad and Dr Greenwald for prompt care from 1505 Franklin street to Beth Israel Hospital Newark. The thank you notes specify appreciation for emergency aid on May 16, 1956.
Four men were arrested over the weekend for scrap metal thefts from two Hillside plants. Alfred David 19 and Walter Seifert 18 of Union were bound over for appearance in Magistrate Court on larceny charges after about 600 pounds of metal rings were taken from Hartig Engine & Machine Co. They were caught Monday morning as police investigated a door slam. Michael Miskew 40 of 249 Pennsylvania Ave and John De Kuchak 60 of 136 North Ave were found at Cooper Alley Car Plant on Ramsey Ave. they claimed foreman permission to take metal and were released to their own custody pending investigation.
A Newark League event sponsored by the Newark League Jewish National Home for Asthmatic Children in Denver will be held Wednesday June 13 at the Chan-Hicler in Millburn. Mrs Milton Roth, president, will extend greetings. Mrs Natig Barbarosh of South Orange will offer remarks. Mrs Nathang Lemérntan of Newark will oversee the tea and door prizes. Hosts include Mrs Benjamin Barbarosh of Millburn, Mrs Cy Goldpety and Mrs Cy Schillie of Newark. Planning for upcoming activities will be reviewed at a board meeting June 18 at 8 30 pm at the Fese% House, Newark. Mrs Myy vin Yeelo and Mr Abraham Chal Ken of Hillside will serve as host committee for the coming year. Other Hillside residents on the hospitality committee for 1956 57 include Mrs David GFGhe Myy Norman Towis and Mrs William Needle.
