Elizabeth River Cleanup Nets 3 Tons of Debris

Cleanup along the Elizabeth River across Hillside High School collected about three tons of debris including shopping carts tires and aluminum cans. Coordinated by Robert S Parochnisk and with Hillside Fire Department divers and volunteers the effort aimed to prepare the area for fish stocking by the State. The group noted most debris was deposited by citizens rather than industry and found items ranging from a 1951 New Jersey license plate to old hot water tanks and snow tires.
