Township Residency Rule Spurs Police and Fire Jobs
Mayor Menza defended a residency requirement for township jobs citing snowstorms and accessibility. Commissioner Corwick noted residence is a job condition while Mrs. DeFilippo protested the removal of Miss Dorothy Groeger as girls supervisor at the PAL building and lack of recreation funds. Corwick reminded state law limits PAL funding. Menza offered to help raise funds but said the program is not township responsibility. Patrolman Frank DeSanto received a $250 raise after completing Rutgers police science credits. A dispute over naming the King St development cul de sac arose, with Calam Court proposed from initials of two fathers, met with Menza’s objections.
