Somerset Bus Co Acquires No 15 Green Flyer Route
Somerset Bus Co Inc of Mountainside announced it purchased the assets of the No 15 Green Flyer and will operate buses on the Fanwood to New York City run. Service stops opposite Hillside National Bank on a half hour schedule with frequent departures, and complete routes through Fanwood Scotch Plains Clark Crawford Roselle Elizabeth Hillside and Newark. The No 15 line ceased last week after assets were seized by the Internal Revenue Service for taxes totaling 85,234.99. The company runs two other New York trips via Plainfield Fanwood Westfield Garwood Crawford Roselle Park Elizabeth and Newark, plus a Roselle Park to Newark line. Weekday service from opposite the Hillside Bank runs 6 01 a m to 12 31 a m, with New York departures every half hour from 7 a m to 1 30 a m and arrivals at the bank every 39 minutes after. Sunday service begins from Hillside 8 31 a m and from New York 9 30 a m. A UN Week planning committee for Union County was appointed by Rev John R Dexheimer, UN Week Chairman, to develop county wide projects October 20 to 27 and assist local groups. Washington July 11 Rep Florence P Dwyer announced 381 Union County residents will take civil service competitive exams for admission to the Military Naval Air Force and Merchant Marine Academies. Newark Man Bailed In Theft Of Coins
Marcellus Robinson, 46, of 498 Belmont Avenue Newark, was arrested for stealing 145 dollars in coins from the car of Sidney Grote a vending machine serviceman of 35A Colfax Manor Roselle Park. He posted 200 bail to appear in Municipal Court July 18 on grand larceny charges. Detectives say witnesses identified him as the getaway man. Robinson denies the charge and the cash remains unrecovered. He was nabbed at the plant by Detectives Mason and De Prospa.
