Town Pays 3000 In Youths Death Settlement
Tilliside Township and two defendants agreed to a $7500 settlement over the death of 18 year old Thomas Surn of Union who died after his head struck a roadside stanchion on Route 22. The Hillside company will pay $3000 and John Fresco $1500, with the balance to the youth’s father Chester Sar. The incident occurred while Surn was a passenger in Fresco’s car returning from New York. he died hours later at Elizabeth General Hospital.

State to widen Bloy Street Bridge on Route 22 in Hillside
