Trust Accounts Benefit Highlighted in Hillside Kiwanis Talk
Robert Pinto of Belleville and assistant trust officer at National State Bank spoke at College Inn to Hillside Kiwanis Club about planning trust funds to reduce inheritance taxes. He explained that second death savings may arise if a head of family establishes a trust, allowing the widow to use interest and withdraw needed funds while preserving estate for children. He noted state law governs estate management costs and urged review of wills for planned distribution, calling the talk “Death and Taxes” in effect. Pinto cited dollar value decline since 1940 and rising estate tax burdens at federal and state levels, illustrating with an $160,000 example where about $73,000 would pass tax free to the wife, who would be taxed on the remainder after her death.
