Comets Fall To Westfield After Rallying To Beat Trinity
Hillside’s Comets defeated Holy Trinity 76-67 in the Union County Tournament to advance, then were eliminated by top seed Westfield 65-56. The win over Trinity avenged an earlier loss, lifting Hillside to a 14-7 record with two regular-season games and the state tournament remaining. Harvey Wooten led with 19 points and 13 rebounds as Paul Yungst and Paul Losseff added 16 and 20. Westfield used a second-half surge, turning a two-point halftime deficit into a decisive 97-27 run and finishing with an 80-56 victory in the later game.
