Turnout at Hillside school election spurs budget and fire alarm debate

Last week's Hillside school election drew under 2,000 voters from a 11,000 registration. Many did not vote on budget items, prompting talk of resubmitting the Capital Outlay of 6300 and condemning a costly special election. The board faces legal risk if outlays aren’t resubmitted. A direct fire alarm system is urged, with calls for a referendum. Zoning board hearing drew 30 sites for a 128 unit garden apartment, opposed for LW street.
