Labor Leader Attacks Broad Based Tax at Rutgers
The State CIO official Joel R. Jacobson told a Legislative Conference at Rutgers that New Jersey already taxes alcohol cigarettes motor vehicles and pari mutuels heavily and that a new sales tax would be a regressive burden. He argued the NJEA proposal would push costs onto low income workers while letting high earners evade taxes. The jetport Morris County proposal appeared dead, a view echoed by proponents.
