Man Dies Instantly When Car Hits Trailer at Westminster
Augustin Rodriguez aged 24 of 441 Rosehill Place Elizabeth died instantly at 10 50 am Monday when his car ran a red light at Westminster and North Avenues and went under a trailer. A steel beam from the trailer shattered the windshield injuring Mrs Rose Friedman. Friedmans treated at St Elizabeth Hospital. Traffic rerouted as Hillside and Elizabeth police, Byrden Firemen, and local crews cleared the site. Police say three witnesses saw the Rodriguez car pass the light as it traveled toward Elizabeth on Westminster Ave. The tractor towing the empty trailer was driven by Lloyd H Trimmer. Body taken to Halberne and Boat Colonial Home in Union. A second accident at the same corner occurred about four hours later with no injuries.

Mrs. Jean J. Noble 53 Dies After Prolonged Illness
Services were held Monday for Jean J. Noble of SSI Yale Avenue who died Saturday in Presbyterian Hospital Newark after a long illness. Interment followed at Hollywood Memorial Park Union. Born in Newark she lived most of her life in Hillside and was active in local clubs and church. She attended Hillside High School Rollins College and worked for RCA Elastic Stop Nut Co and Charles Bessler Co before joining Jack C. Noble Insurance Agency with her husband about 11 years ago. She organized the Hillside Players and held memberships in several local civic groups. Surviving are her parents William and Mrs. Preslak, a brother Maurice and a sister Mrs. Courage.
