UNICO Award and Hillside Library Children's Hours Highlight Local News

UNICO honored Earle Barlo as UNICAN of the Year 1962-63 at its Chicago convention. In Hillside, the Summer Children's Hours program at Hillside Public Library, led by Mrs. Joseph Fernicola, featured games, puppet shows, folk songs, and storytelling for two age groups, ending with a party and ice cream.

Critics Clash Over Local Education Standards

Will Exhibit Currency and Coin Display in Hillside

Robert Wells of the National State Bank announced a display of American currency from colonial times to present at a Federal Reserve exhibit in New York. Highlights include a $10,000 bill a wood penny from England the first U S coin a 2 cent piece with In God We Trust trade dollars and gold coins up to 1933. The exhibit opens Monday Sept 16 and runs weekdays with evening hours Sept 19. 51 987 Raised In PAL Mail Drive

Donations totaling 1987.13 to Hillside PAL were raised in a recent mail campaign by Louis J. Hess. The board of trustees reported the gifts came from six clubs and organizations including the Hillside Chapter.

Nursing School Announces Class of 1066 at Elizabeth General

Miss Ellen Parker heads the 37 students admitted to the Elizabeth General Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1066. The program begins Monday August 26. Parker, daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond Parker of 256 Hollywood Ave, is Hillside High School graduate. The incoming class represents 27 New Jersey communities.

Nursing Class at Hahnemann College Grows to Sixty Six

Gwen dolyn M. Deptula of Hillside New Jersey will register September 9 for the three year School of Nursing at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital. She joins a large incoming class as 66 young women begin training in Philadelphia for the nursing program.

Unit Concludes Aircraft Path Not Justified

Mrs. Gussie Krassner, 56, was attacked and robbed near her Newark home Friday night. She was stabbed in the arm and chest during a handbag struggle. a neighbor saw the suspect flee in a stolen car. She received treatment at Newark Beth Israel Hospital.

New Pastor for Church in Newark Picks Nolting

The Rev. Fred L. Nolting, formerly of St Luke's Episcopal Church in Atlanta, has accepted a call to serve at the Episcopal Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Newark at 137 Pomona Ave beginning in September at 10 AM. Fall services will be announced after arrival. The parish marks its 50th anniversary on October 23 with a formal observance.
