In Hillside Court on August 8 1968 William Van Lenten Jr pleaded guilty to speeding 65 in a 45 zone and to passing on the right with fines of 65 and 35 dollars. Michael Pulik Hillside and Robert Yesko Elizabeth faced related DU I and other charges with varied penalties. Lois Zukowitz and James Cuomo also appeared on drug and disorderly conduct offenses with fines. Edward Chambers Perth Amboy admitted vehicle inspection and learner permit violations. Kirby Ehret East Orange was found guilty of non payment of toll on the Garden State Parkway and fined 15 dollars.
Dr Warren Grey announces Robert Diamond as Membership Chairman for the Northern New Jersey Council of B'nai B'rith. Diamond is a Hillside Lodge past president and has received four national membership awards. He has served Hillside as mayor and several commissioners and pledges to recruit 2200 new members this year.
Dr. Warren H. Knauer urges wide public access to a Reader's Digest article on cancer noting fear hinders doctor visits. The piece by Lawrence Galton argues cancer is not hopeless and highlights progress against leukemia and cervical and colon cancers.
Mabel G. Stoke urges parents to value a child's solitude and unique interests rather than label them shy or maladjusted. She, with Willard Abraham, provides a parent self test and answers stressing individual differences, leadership myths, and the need to adapt family life to a child's changing development.

A chief officer is always on duty, assigned to each of the four divisions of the Fire Department, with fire apparatus responding to first line assignments manned by three firemen and a fire captain in command.
