In Tuesday’s primary Frank J. La Tora topped the Township Committee race with 963 votes, Albert Schoen 844, and Gene Kolakowski 688 as they secure Republican nominations. Mayor Milton Conford and Commissioner Robert Kirkpatrick, Democrats unopposed, will face them in November. Light turnout of 2,175 ballots from 11,444 registered. The Dads Booster Club with Hill Side High School invites parents and students to a Friday April 24 Back to School Extra curricular Night. Visitors will tour clubs including Stamp Rifle and language groups, watch assemblies, see yearbook and paper production, enjoy a one act play Opening Night and see Forensic and Pinafore rehearsals. Shade Tree Arbor Day Event Planned by Commission
Shade Tree Commission observes Arbor Day by planting twenty trees at Central Avenue Playground on Saturday April 25 at 11 a.m. A resident requested program to plant 75 trees runs through May 1. Irvington Avenue traffic relief sought by residents
Irvington avenue residents petitioned the Township Committee to ease heavy traffic and dust from an unpaved street. They propose confining traffic to a southerly one way run from Wilder street to North avenue and cited Pingry School traffic as a key cause. The committee pledged street improvement when weather permits and to include Irvington avenue in a traffic control ordinance.
